Responsive Website Design

Mobile Optimised Websites

From desktops to tablets (iPad, Android or Windows Surface) to any brand of smartphone, people are visiting your website from an increasing array of mobile devices and browsers.

Is your website ready?

Responsive Web Design (RWD) is all about designing beyond the desktop and creating websites that look great on all devices. It is important to acknowledge the changing world and the increasing use of new devices, differing screen sizes and orientations. Your customers now visit your site on their iPhone, Android, netbook, tablet computer and even their TV. To give them a good experience we need to ensure your website is optimised for every device and Responsive Web Design does exactly that.

Why go Responsive?

How many times have you tried to view a website that is not mobile-friendly? Everything is squeezed to fit on a small screen, making text difficult to read unless you’re panning and zooming right in, which creates a frustrating user experience. Frustrated users quickly turn away from websites, and if a competitor has a Responsive Website with a better user experience you risk losing your visitors to them. Go Responsive so that all your website visitors have a user-friendly experience, no matter what device they are using. When visitors have a good user-experience they stay on your website longer, and are more likely to follow your call to action (e.g. buy, fill out a form, call you) if it’s clear and easy to do.

What about a mobile app, or mobile website vs Responsive Design?

Responsive design is what we are recommending to most clients who want a new website, or are upgrading their old ones, however for some clients a separate mobile optimised website may be the best option. For example, if you have recently upgraded your website and are happy with the desktop version it can often be faster to build a mobile optimised version of your website while keeping the existing website intact.

If you have lots of content you may want a slimmed down ‘light’ version of your website for mobile visitors; or you may have a large ecommerce site that you want to offer as a mobile app, as well as a mobile website, in which case a separate mobile version may be a better approach. If in doubt call us for some free advice and we’ll advise you about which option is best for your business.

Our mobile websites have an App-Like feel, meaning they look and behave more like native apps than websites. We can package your mobile website inside a mobile app and publish it in the App Store, Google Play or Windows Phone Store.
